Party Poker Premier League IV Champion

David BenyamineThe Party Poker Premier League IV came to a conclusion this week with David Benyamine coming away as the winner. Benyamine knocked off Luke Schwartz head to head for the title, and garnered $400,000. The reviews for the finale were great for the poker leaders.

Schwartz came into the battle with a huge lead, but it took just three hands for that to go away. After not much action in the first hand, the second hand saw Benyamine turn a straight. Benyamine kept Schwartz in the game for the river card, which also allowed Schwartz to receive a straight, but not as high as Benyamine. After Benyamine raised, Schwartz folded, feeling Benyamine had a flush. The third hand was the final hand, seeing both players go all in. Schwartz boasted that he had a queen, but then found out it was not good enough.

One of the surprises in the Premier League IV; Giovanni Safina had a solid performance, only to see him get knocked out by Schwartz to finish third. Phil Laak brought home $146,000 for his fourth place finish, while Daniel Negreanu picked up $132,000 for his fifth place finish. Big name Phil Hellmuth finished ninth place in the tournament.

Benyamine is a 37 year old professional poker player that was born and raised in Paris France. He started out as a professional tennis player, only to retire early due to shoulder injuries. He also enjoys billiards, and became a top ten player in 2004. He currently lives in Henderson Nevada, and engaged to poker player Erica Schoenberg. Benyamine has made three final tables in the World Poker Tour; with his first in 2003, and most recent in 2008.
