Why was Poker For Free started?
Poker For Free was started because its’ founders at the time being were starting poker players themselves. They encourage starting poker players to learn the game by playing freerolls and taking advantage of no deposit bonuses, since they personally experienced learning poker this way. Furthermore they strongly believe in the fact that nobody should ever risk irresponsible gambling, and jeopardize their in real life savings.
Of course Poker For Free can only make its’ profit when referred players actually deposit money into their poker accounts. Poker is a skill game, therefore anyone can become a successful poker player. Now a days Poker For Free has grown to to a respectable website, and the founders to profitable poker players.
I am a US citizen, can I still play online poker?
Yes you can! Unfortunately we have seen the Federal Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act rammed through Congress by the Republican leadership.
Basically spoken, this act prohibits financial institutes within the United States to make money transfers to companies in the business of betting or wagering, which include online poker rooms. Federal regulators have 270 days from the date this bill was signed into law (October 13, 2006) to come up with regulations to identify and block money transactions to gambling sites. Though, many online poker providers will keep accepting US citizens to play in their poker rooms, at least until these 270 days pass by.
An American poker player does not risk prison, or a fine when playing online poker. Though Poker For Free does not take any responsibility by publishing this part of our FAQ.
