Sit n' Go Tournaments
About Sit n' Go Tournaments
A sit n' go tournament, also name SNG, is a tournament format with an unscheduled start time. The tournament will begin as soon as a predetermined number of people register. The number of participating players is determined by the poker site and the game.
In general SNG tables vary from 2 (head to head), 5/6 (short handed), 10 (regular), up to 30 and more (multi table). This may also vary per poker site and poker variant of the game. Buy-ins (stakes) range from $1 up to several hundred dollars. To start out this section, we will concentrate on the single tables.
Playing SNG's give you the ability to play in tournaments without committing several hours of your time. It's a great environment to work on your short-handed and late tournament tactics, and a chance to win a SNG tournament with a very small risk because of the to the low stakes involved.
The payout structure depends on the amount of players participating. While a short handed table may pay just the top 2 (70%, 30%), regular tables may pay the top 4 (50%, 25%, 15%, 10%) of the prize pool. The main focus of your game should be to end in the payout structure (in the money) which guarantees a profit, instead of becoming first which is of later concern when we are able to take more risks.
