- Changing Pace
To be as unpredictable as possible it is wise to change gears during a game of poker. If you can balance your game by changing the pace you will make it more difficult to the others to exploit your tells. This tactic depends a lot of what the others think about you, i.e. how they classify you.
When you haven't been caught bluffing yet, you're probably qualified as a tight player and have earned some respect. On the controversy, if you have been playing loose and bluffed quite a lot, then you will probably get paid off well when you get a premium poker hand.
Thinking ahead is of real value when changing the pace of your game. You should play tight when the majority of the table seems to be loose, and you should loosen up when you're opponents are playing tight.
Showing your hands now and then under the right circumstances, especially when playing multi table tournaments, is advisable. This could be showing hands that you usually don't play.
