Poker For Free Leader Board

February 2010: The re-introduction of a new and improved version of Poker For Free's leader board/poker competition has been extended until further notice.

Our famous Leader Board started out with a vengeance in March 2008 with literary hundreds of participators from all over the place. It was the main thing going on, on Poker For Free... and it attracted many, many new Poker Club members.

Unfortunately, among these new members we also saw a group of freeroll whores (pardon my French), who didn't care about poker etiquette in the chat and tried to collude their way in the money. It's identical to real life, it's just a small group that infects it for the majority.

We received complaints from our most loyal members and were not happy about this ourselves either. So, to get rid of these people, we decided to turn our free Leader Board into a buy-in only Leader Board. Unfortunately, I have to admit, it turned out to be a bad decision, one that eventually killed the Leader Board.

But we have to focus on the good stuff, right? And there has been a plenty of good stuff to be proud about! We ran the Leader Board successfully six times, totaling 40 freerolls and several thousands of dollars in prizes.

New Leader Board Starts January 2010

Now, after more than a year of silence, Poker For Free's Leader Board will be reinstalled! Starting January 2010 we will run a series of monthly freeroll tournaments with points distribution for our Leader Board. Yes, you read that right, our poker tourneys will be completely free of charge again! After all, free is in our name, free is what you expect... so free is what you get!

For those of you who remember the good old days, there will be some differences. First of all, it will not be a monthly Leader Board, but an event running for a total of 3 to 6 months.

Second, and this will make our Leader Board attractive to new Poker Club members too, only your top 10 results will count. This means that someone who's stepping in half way is still offered a fair chance to win a prize.

The prizes will be good, that's all I can say about it now. Depending if someone is willing to sponsor the Leader Board, the first prize might be as good as a package to a live event, but if that's not the case it's probably going to be something like $1,000 in a poker account and several tickets for the better online guaranteed tournaments.

We will also make sure that half of the freerolls will be held at a poker room that accept players from the United States.

Bottom lines, because I can go on and on if I want to... the Leader Board will be great again, that's a promise. We have decided to start coming January, that way we have enough time and don't risk to leave important factors out.
