CD Poker Review

CD Poker Summary

CD Poker (originally named Club Dice) has grown quite a bit since it was launched, it has become an established name in the online poker industry ever since. They are based on the Caribbean island of Antigua and are owned and operated by Crown Solution Gaming Ltd and set up in 2004.

Being part of the respectable iPoker Network, one of the larger poker networks in the world, guarantees you that you'll be able to find a suitable table at all times of the day, no matter what level or which poker game variation.

Their software is developed by PlayTech and that alone assures you that they are using the latest methods for security and fairness (see more about this below).

Their VIP Club program is simply great! You will be awarded with VIP Points simply by playing poker at CD Poker. VIP Points on their turn can be redeemed for satellites and tournaments buy-ins, as well as many extras.

Poker For Free recommends CD Poker to poker players with at least basic knowledge of poker, but there's an easy catch for you in the medium staked games if you consider yourself being a poker shark!

In the following part of our CD Poker review you can read in-depth information about CD Poker's client, website, security & integrity, traffic & games, bonuses & promotions and support.

Poker Client

The CD Poker client software is developed by the publicly traded company PlayTech, one of the leading developers for the online poker industry. Their poker room makes part of the iPoker Network, just like some of the other online poker rooms we promote on Poker For Free. The CD Poker application is very nice, and ease of use. Most of their recent updates are improvements of their interface, making it user friendly.

The software offers many nice features, including resizable tables (mini view, default and full screen) and for those of you who like to play more tables at once, you can play up to six tables simultaneously. History for all aspects of the game are real time and presented in a graphical way (using playing card images), which is very useful for analyzing purposes and so, improving your personal game play. Many other features can be found in an in game menu, for example the option to play with a four-colored deck, toggle avatars, view hand strength, show folded cards, to disable showing casino games and more. Options to customize the chat can also be found here.

CDPoker.com Website Review

CD Poker Website

In essence, the CD Poker website is not too bad, because it is content rich, but... the new design turned out to be a complete disaster. For many years CDPoker.com didn't look too well and it was great to hear the news that they were actually working on a redesign late 2008, though it was totally shocking to see the final result when they launched it.

The idea behind the design isn't bad, it is just that they did a sloppy job making it. For instance and yes pixels mean a lot to me, the margins vary from point to point, things don't fit within their containers, images are blurry and round corners are not simply not round. If only their mother company would have hired the same company doing CD Poker, which they hired to create William Hill Poker... what a difference it could have been. Enough of a rant! Let's have a look at the content now.

First of all, let's start out with something positive, as the website is available in many languages, including the following: English, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Russian, Danish, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish and Dutch. The menu bar can be found in the top of the website, you can't miss it. In the center of the site you can find four big blocks, one will shout at you and tells you to download their software. The others mainly contain promotional information. Again, they could have done a much better job using up this much of space.

Anyway, the main menu exists of all kind of standard menu items for an online poker room's website: Getting Started, Tournaments, Promotions, VIP, Cashier, Poker School, Contact Us and Affiliates, besides two other integrated buttons that will lead you to their online casino and sportsbook. After digging a little deeper we didn't find anything that really stood out, but discovered that the Cashier pages contain valuable information for making deposits, but also for cashing out.

It goes without saying that we are not very fond of CDPoker.com. In our opinion they did a lousy job and if we wouldn't know better, we would not sign-up and play at CD Poker ourselves. I'd say, why not judge for yourself.

Security and Integrity

CD Poker is part of the Canadian Kahnawake Gaming Commission, a jurisdiction in accordance with the highest principles of honesty and integrity. Their 128-bit secure connection is employed to protect all data, including all private information stored. Both the CD Poker anti fraud team, as well as PlayTech log and monitor all table actions to protect the poker room against collusion between players and any other type of cheating. Next to that, their software is certified by VeriSign, a company that enables and protects billions of interactions every day across the world.

Traffic and Game Variation

Very decent traffic can be found at the Texas Hold'em tables, basically for all the usual betting structures (Limit, No-Limit, and Pot Limit). Multi table tournaments, sit n' go's, as well as cash game tables are easy to find, and in all formats like full ring, shorthanded, and heads up. Some Omaha (Hi, Hi/Lo) may be found, but there hardly seems to be any traffic for 7-Card Stud poker.

The game difficulty generally varies, but of course this mostly depends on what stakes you will be playing. While tournaments (part of the iPoker Network) can be pretty tough at some times, the No-Limit games seem to be composed of many loose passive players. In general we'd recommend them for their ring games, as the rake structure at CD Poker is set up quite generous.

CD Poker does not offer a lot of poker freerolls, but occasionally we run a few of our own there. Just make sure to become a member of Poker For Free's Poker Club to play in our private freerolls when they're on.

CD Poker First Deposit Bonus and Promotions

If you are an established poker player, you will probably want to go for the CD Poker first deposit bonus, as this is what makes them quite attractive. If you decide to sign-up through one of our links and use bonus code "pff500", you will get a nice incremental welcome bonus of 150% up to $500 and additionally a $20 instant poker bonus (which can be used for playing poker straight away). When making a first deposit using an e-wallet you will get an additional bonus of usually around 15%. Please see the details on the CD Poker website under Cashier > Deposit Options.

Being an iPoker room means being able to offer all iPoker promotions, including the ECOOP tournaments, Bad Beat Jackpots, as well as many satellites to land based poker events (WSOP, EPT, APT, LAPT, ...). As far as we know they don't really offer any CD Poker specific promotions. For more information about current promotions we suggest you pay a visit to CDPoker.com.
